Referring to the highlighted text, yes, I think its VERY important to know how the Bible
god dealt with people, including genocide, killing the innocent first born, killing innocent women and children, providing virgins for the Israelite soldiers. The question is, how can someone worship a being who dealt with people like this?

Except Paul noted that all scripture has value. And, of course, there's this little gem from the Sermon on the Mount, Matthew 5:17-18

“Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished."

No, I imagine your blinders would prevent you from helping me understand. I know such spin is difficult to accomplish, even to the point of making a believer hedge. I was once "a child of God", and nothing has changed, except for my willingness to look without blinders.

I probably should have phrased my original question differently. As I mentioned, I am a non-believer (essentially, I believe that if God exists, then he/she/it must be completely different from anything humans have imagined). And I'm positive that reading a passage in the book of Daniel won't further convince me of the divinity of Christ, any more than reading Greek legends will convince me of the divinity of Zeus. As such, I'm not looking for passages that will prove anything about Christ.

I guess what I really want is - what are some of the most famous stories or passages, that have inspired great art, literature, references everywhere from films to television to music? For example, reading the passage of the Sermon on the Mount (was that in Matthew?) will contain a ton of phrases that you'll hear quoted all the time. What would be the corresponding Old Testament passages (besides, obviously, most of Genesis)?

I think all of it is worth reading but I like Genesis and Ecclesiastes the most.

But even deeper, there's some meaty revelations of Christ in Genesis seen between the names "LORD" and "Lord God", the Hebrew letter for grace Attachment 108331 seen in Abraham's and Sarah's names (differing from Abram and Sarai) which is also found in Christ's name; the ark of the covenant was constructed of acacia wood (representing Christ's manhood) and overlaid with gold (representing His God nature) and much, much more.
Awesome post, little elmer!

Well, there is the story of Moses and the burning bush, which I believe can be found in Exodus (I had to look this up to be sure).

There's also the story of Samson (God given strength) and Delilah (the woman who seduced him to his death) found in Judges.

The story of Saul and David found in Samuel...

I hope I answered your question a little better.
