There is a whole website about how the Christian man is supposed to discipline his wife daily with hard spankings that make her cry. This is to show her he is the head of the household and that she is to learn to submit (like a dog, I guess). I only learned about this by listening to a liberal talk podcast "The David Pakman Show" -- he likes to keep his listeners updated on weird stuff going on in Christian circles.
I did and I was appalled. Some of what I read had a decidedly pornographic and sado-masochistic side to it. It was totally disgusting.
Is this what Jesus would do? I think not.
I do not follow Pat Robertson. I don't care what he says or thinks.
And perhaps he never said this. However, there is a Domestic Discipline movement within fundamentalist Christianity.
I think that the idea of men spanking their wives is disgusting.
What are your thoughts?
I think I saw the same site you looked at. It seemed like it was about sexual innuendo but at the same time serious about a man's right (and duty) to spank his wife daily until she breaks into tears. I never heard it associated with Pat Robertson, but I did hear Pat excuse men for cheating on their spouses and blaming the woman for not looking as pretty as she used to. He is clearly a sexist. It doesn't matter whether or not Pat said the thing about spanking or not - he's still a lunatic.

That's fringe stuff, if it even happens at all. You present it like it's mainstream Christianity. It's not.
