Disapprove. According to scripture and what we know about his return, he would not have a reason to return if he approved of what has happened to Christianity as a whole.
Our definition of "groups" matters not. Only those few who are truly baptized with the Holy Spirit are Christians. The others belong or attend churches and may have been baptized by water but are none of His.
Absolutely He would disapprove. All the false claims made in His name.
What I'd lik to know is His "approval" of what we call canonical these days. Betcha He would have had issues with a lot of the NT that we all argue about. I, for one, would love to hear a clarification of aionios kolasan.
I think many of the things Jesus affirmed and corrected in his day would still be relevant today. Man's heart has not changed much in 2000 years. Spiritually we suffer with the same temptations. The churches today are no different than those in Revelation. Overall, individually or collectively, I don't think his message would be much different now than it was then.
I suppose you would have to define which group you consider Christian first. Not all who use the name are after-all.
No . . . and it would be irrelevant since what WE consider Christian does not determine who IS Christian. Only God decides. This is so typical of human vanity and hubris. It is why Jesus would not approve of much in modern Christianity, IMO.
If Jesus suddenly came back to earth today, do you think he approve or disapprove of modern Christianity?
Approve of real Christians and disapprove of pseudo Christians.
