By all accounts, this seems to be an airtight case. The guy that said that a pastor who plagiarizes isn't worthy of being a pastor, has apparently plagiarized on numerous occasions.
Really? He's a pretty popular guy. He is the leader of Mars Hill Church in Seattle, WA. He's known for being kind of "in your face" and kind of blunt. He's among the "young, restless and reformed" crowd, but he is also charismatic.
Saddening but not super surprising. I wonder how well he even knows the rules of sourcing. Mark Driscoll is a good speaker but he ultimately drives me nuts. I don't know how or why he was ever considered "emergent." His form of ultraconservative (not necessarily fundamentalist) macho-evangelism is the last thing Christianity needs right now.
I have a Christian family member who is a psychologist/consulor for a college near Mars Hill they said that a few young couples they've seen have nearly destroyed their marriage following Driscols advice on marriage roles. According to them, Driscolls relies far too much on a certain understanding of the bible and not enough on actual gender studies and its having a negative effect on certain couples...but anyways, Pastor can't be experts on everything no matter how much their congregation wants them to be.

OK. I have not heard of him. I don't know how I would have. If he is on TV I have never seen him. I am very selective as to what types of religions get there teaching into my home though.
This is not as bad as other scandals that have scarred the religion.
