When the creator of the universe says "So be it" it is. Mary could not have said NO, it's just totally impossible. God is almighty, all of his plans come to pass exactly as he foreordained them to be. It's the exactly the same thing with the doctrine of "Irresistible grace". When God entered the name of a sinner in his book of life before the foundation of the world, that sinner comes to faith. Absolutely and always.

Exactly. I've always thought....if God told ME that I'd have a baby (I'm a man), I would probably have the same reaction as Mary ("How can this be?")....but I doubt very much I'd have the ability to say "No, God....that just doesn't work for my schedule..."
Mary did have free will though but since she was sinless she probably would not have said no to God.
The article doesn't say why God would chose a girl to do such an important task, feminists usually complain women are overlooked when important things are talked about in the church. Also, the author wants to make it pro-choice after the conception, not before. Women have all the free choice they want before deciding to have sex, after the pregnancy starts is when the problem begins and there is another person to consider. They want to forget about the baby.
