The Transfiguration is one of the major events in the New Testament. But did it really happen or was it just a vision or a story.
There is an obvious issue that has to be resolved before we can say whether or not the Transfiguration was a real event.
It is said that both Moses and Ezekiel appeared with Jesus. According to the Old Testament, Ezekiel is still alive and riding his chariot of fire. But Moses was surely dead and buried.
Thus if the Transfiguration was a real (physical) event, Moses would have had to be resurrected much as the saints were resurrected when Christ died and appearing to many in Jerusalem. (See Matthew's gospel).
If I recall correctly it says in scripture that a man will only die once. So does this mean a resurrected Moses and the resurrected saints are still alive somewhere?

CONCLUSION:
Both the Transfiguration and Matthew's claimed mass resurrection of the saints in Jerusalem when Christ died are only stories, not factual history.
Elijah and Moses with the Lord God came to Jesus, as these were Spirit with substance ..... See Peter knew who these people from God were , because God made it known to Peter through a quickening in the Spirit ...... Seen the Spirit of the Virgin years ago , for three seconds , and there is No difference to a living person in the earth , just that She was there and then disappeared in thin air, and I was fully awake in the afternoon
The Transfiguration was a real event, not a mere "vision".
Strongs says the Koine greek root word interpreted is to define a "spectacle", gazed-at,
which be supernatural. It is the same as used in in Moses's burning bush reference
of Acts 7:31. The effect was of the same origin, albeit far greater, than when Moses's face
shone after receiving the Law, and they were afraid to come near him. (Ex. 30:34).
2 Peter 1:16-21 insists it was real also.

Snowball what did Jesus say about the Transfiguration at Matthew 17 v 9 ?______________
Please also notice at Matthew 16 vs 27,28 mentions Jesus coming in glory with his angels.
Jesus does Not come in such glory until the soon coming ' time of separation ' of Matthew 25 vs 31,32.
CONCLUSION:
Both the Transfiguration and Matthew's claimed mass resurrection of the saints in Jerusalem when Christ died are only stories, not factual history.
Pro or Con?
The Transfiguration VISION [ see Matthew 17 v 9 ] was a vision.
Matthew 27 vs 52-54 is in connection to corpses being exposed Not resurrected.
Remember No one could be resurrected before Christ - John 3 v 13 1st Cor. 15 vs 20,23
Jesus was Not resurrected the day Jesus died, but Jesus went to the grave til Sunday - Acts 2 vs 27,31,32; Acts 3 v 15
The bodies of the saints [ holy ones ] arose meaning their corpses arose or were openly exposed above ground.
Verse 53 does Not say who came out of the graves [ or graveyard ] ' after ' Jesus' Sunday resurrection.
So, it was Not the dead bodies, but living persons who appeared to many in the city.
Jesus was Not given the keys to unlock death until after Jesus ascended to heaven - Rev. 1 v 18.
The saints or holy ones would Not be resurrected until the future Lord's Day [ Rev. 1 v 10 ] our time frame.
Then the majority of mankind would be resurrected ' after' those saints or holy ones have their first or earlier resurrection to heaven - Rev. 20 v 6
People miss the message of the event - Moses represented the law, and Ezekiel represented the prophets; both held in high esteem in Israel, and both held the people in bondage.
So when God said, "No, listen to (Jesus)" - not the law, not the prophets...the door of the law was closed to believers and grace stretched forth its arms.
When Jesus came down the mountain, His face was shining (like Moses' face when he returned with the law). But people ran to Jesus and His grace - they ran away from Moses and the law.
To further illustrate the point, the men who stood with Him that day were Peter (stone), James (supplanter, one who replaces) and grace.
So the law has been replaced by grace.
