I was always taught that you could pray directly to Mary. Never prayed to the pope to intercede for any prayers. Mary, being a Jewish mother, could "nudge and guilt trip" Jesus into interceding on your behalf I guess, LOL

Same here, in all my years in Catholic schools I was always taught that Mary was the "go to" person prayer-wise ( with Jesus and god of course) not the pope.

Mary as the ultimate Jewish Mother, I like that !

Oh-kay, a bad attempt at sarcasm/humor without the emoticons. I do believe the Pope is thought to rank up there with the HS, however I was only joking about going through him to get to Mary...and so on and so forth.
