I have my job because a Christian heard an announcement of the opening at church. I was living where I was as a result of me and my roommate being born again and needing to share cost. Another co-worker who lived nearby thus was car pooling played match maker between her niece and myself.
We knew each other in HS. I was a senior and she was a sophomore. She was very quiet and reserved and I was the exact opposite. I never really considered dating her because we were so different and I was looking for a party and she was not going to be into that. Shortly after graduation, I realized that I needed to find a girl that I could spend an eternity with instead of a weekend. I somehow knew that the path I was on needed a change for the better. But what kind of "good girl" would go out with me since I had pretty much set my reputation as a "party boy" in stone for everyone who knew me. Then one day, there was a knock at the door. It was her and her best friend. Just stopped by to say hi. We all talked for a while and I really started to think about her. I started looking around where she would be and kept trying to run into her. Everytime, we would talk a little more. I finally got up the courage to ask her out and she said yes. That was 28 years ago and we just celebrated our 22nd wedding anniversary this weekend.
Turns out the reason they came over to my house was because her best friend was interested in me. Not her. God has a way of making things work out.
