Some guys just aren't cut out to be NFL players. He had a great college career though. I don't think it was his faith that bothered people as much as it was about the attention that he drew. Any team that picked him up was asking for unnecessary attention. His talent just doesn't outweigh the distraction.
I had a discussion with some friends the other day about Tebow. Christians are torn whether it was his faith that made him an outcast in the NFL, or if it was just the fact that he was actually a bad player and was overhyped.
Some Christians say that Tebow was not respected because he was a Christian, and I actually resent that comment. Kurt Warner was a very respected athlete who is a devout Christian, as is Ray Lewis. They haven't been subject to the same scrutiny Tebow was. Are we to say the reason they weren't "persecuted" is because they aren't "true" Christians? If you believe this, what makes Tebow a true Christian?
I think sometimes Christians get really hyper-sensitive and actually become part of the politically correct movement where just like other "marginalized" groups, they claim to be always treated unjustly and always claim that their faith is the reason people criticize them, not realizing that they may be rubbing people the wrong way for different reasons. If some Christians believe that political correctness has gone too far, they shouldn't be a part of that movement by engaging in the same "woe is me" actions that just alienate people.
Dear ed,
Tim is working out for the baseball tryouts.
He was good enough to take Denver to the playoffs..
seems like he had some talent?
Yes, I don't know what happened.
Funny....just now on our local news they are going to be
talking about "What TT plans on doing next!"LOL
Back soon....hot off the presses!
What a cowinkydinky. Right?
Edit: TT wants to be a major league baseball player...he's 28,..."He has what it takes"
Some guy said.
I will stand by what ALWAYS demonstrates someone's true Faith to others is their walk. Not even their public testimony is on par.
We had a preacher at the AOG church I attend preach on how the only evidence that one is being moved by the Holy Spirit is by them singing/praying in tongues and dancing. This kind of thing irks me to no end and I believe it's a false teaching. I'd attend a different church, but I've developed a good report with the people there and it gives me an opportunity to serve.
The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, and temperance. Love is kind, does not envy, is not prideful, doesn't behave itself shamefully, etc...
I don't much about Tebow in his daily life. Ultimately being a good Christian is far more important than being a good football player.
He's made a lot of money for himself and others, which means that he must still be on his knees.
