1Ti_6:16 Who alone has immortality, making His home in light inaccessible,
Whom not one of mankind perceived nor can be perceiving, to Whom be honor and might eonian! Amen!"

To fully understand that scripture you need to put it in context. I also agree the rendering is not very easy to understand. Here it is in context:
13 I give thee charge in the sight of God, who quickeneth all things, and before Christ Jesus, who before Pontius Pilate witnessed a good confession; 14 that thou keep this commandment without spot, unrebukeable, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ: 15 which in his times he shall shew, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords; 16 who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen.
Others accept evolution and understand genesis is an allegory.
A FEW CHRISTIANS THAT ACCEPT SCIENCE
I suspect that some hard core Sola Scriptura literalists feel they must take the creation as truth because otherwise their belief system crumbles. However, plenty of Christians that are highly educated see no conflict.
Why are so many forum members afraid to admit that Genesis may be an allegory?
Why are so many atheists and agnostics afraid to admit to a Creator?
I ask again: where is the risen Christ right now? He has risen from the dead and cannot die again. He is still alive somewhere in the flesh. I'm asking you a simple question: where is he right now?
Why are so many atheists and agnostics afraid to admit to a Creator?
Yes Creator and his buddy Coyote the trickster. Do you believe in them or not.
Is it cowardly not to believe exactly what you believe? I could never understand this type of comment, is the only intended as an insult or is there an actual meaning behind this? Go ahead and feel brave by believing in a god, might as well be real brave and believe in all of them.☺

I admit a creator.
I am very much like Thomas Aquinas who believed in the initial spark. (see Aquinas Five Proofs)
In other rwords, as of today physicists do not know what caused the Big Bang. So I have no issues with a Christian that says perhaps God was behind the Big bang.
However, this may change pending further discoveries.
Not only that but the apostle Paul, who was raised in orthodox Judaism, believed, along with all good Israelites of his day, that Adam and Eve were real people. They weren't two people who came from some single celled amoebas.
Paul probably also believed, like most in his day, that the world is flat. Nothing against Paul, he did the best with the knowledge at hand, but saying he believed Adam and Eve to be real people doesn't make it so.

Just turned the OP's own question right back on him. What goes around comes around.
