It's what happened before fundamentalism appeared over the horizon.

I don't know the religion of my friends. Why would I?

I don't live in an area where people ask those questions.

It's a really tragic fact, but the fundamentalist urge is part of human nature. And always has been - there's never been a time in human history "before fundamentalism".

Fundamentalism arises as a purely biological instinct for one member of a species to rise above the others around it and use manipulation and cunning to dominate them. In the case of fundamentalism, as I have pointed out numerous times, the early church leaders recognized that just telling the pagans that they would go to heaven if they obeyed Jesus wasn't enough to get the job done. There had to be some "teeth" in the church's command. So they borrowed the concept of burning forever in eternal hellfire from the earlier Zoroastrians and then the Greeks and threatened the pagans with that idea. They used cunning to scare the masses into obeying them and it worked like a charm. The pagans, quaking at the thought of suffering the unbearable pain of their flesh sizzling forever, readily converted en mass.

That's the evolution of fundamentalism right before your eyes.

Jesus told the Semaratin woman she would not worship on any mountain but that salvation was from the Jews. He clearly did not accept her religion nor the scribes and Pharisees.

In the eye's of many here this is not loving your neighbor yet Jesus said to follow Him.

How does that stack up with your version of loving your neighbor? It doesn't, because that is not what Jesus was speaking of.

Jesus was a preacher and did what He wanted done to Him which is speak the truth, the word of God.

It is written in the prophets;

"Speak the truth to one another, judge righteously and let honesty and peace be at your gates."

You are probably right, but there is no doubt in my mind fundamentalism disturbs the peace.

If only you understood this verse of scripture. Speaking the truth is not speaking the bible to one another..... and judging righteously is not judging what you see outwardly.

You have no idea what righteousness is because you do not believe in the One God sent.

John 17
(Father)" Consecrate them in truth"

"your word is truth"
