...with perhaps the exception of Mary, God doesn't sexually reproduce as far as we know so assigning God a single definite gender is silly...I'm mean does anyone here think he walks around heaven with an..um...male organ? ..ugh..I hate to use such a graphic illustration that would get me burned at the stake a few hundred years ago but I hope you get my point.
Jesus could easily call God Father because that was Gods role in Jesus' creation on Earth. Also, Jesus and most other Jews viewed God's family role as culturally male-ish because it was almost always the men who owned the property and made all the big family decisions. I suppose if you consider God to have given birth to creation that could be one female-ish aspect. ..but still.
Personally, I think both Men and Women represent aspects of God's nature even if his role might be considered more male from an ancient Jewish/Hebrew perspective.
Jesus came forth and was the truth--When he died he gave all things to the Father including his name because he rides back with a new name. He called the devil Father. Our God is female and is our Mother and I believe that this was revealed when Jesus rode back with the spirit of truth after he died. He said to call no MAN Father but he Himself called the devil the Father. God is our Mother--new name.
I keep reading posts from fundamentalists saying God WROTE the Bible.
