Many children have grown up without a father and that is a problem?
WHERE are the children's MOTHERS! MANY MANY people have grown up in single parent homes are have done just fine. What about children who are raised in single parent homes WITHOUT a mother?
Sounds as if the church is saying all that matters is having a FATHER and that mom is just an incubator...
NO wait, God has assigned the DIGNITY of every woman as a task to every man??
Just makes me want to vomit....sound like 1 Timothy all over again--WOMAN, SHUT THY MOUTH!!!
A woman's dignity is HER OWN. She creates her worth and she alone determines her destiny.

If you can't understand that both parents are optimal to raise healthy and stable children, then you have a problem.
Sometimes I think you are just being excessively contrary out of habit - and you don't think about what you are saying.
There are households which are healthy, and those that are not.
The differences reside within the individuals of the group.
Bears repeating. There are dysfunctional families aplenty with both parents mpresent and there are healthy households with single parents in plenty. Optimal is not just having both parents, but having mentally healthy parents. Something dogmatic religions do not really encourage.

If one cannot accept ONE parent is capable of raising HAPPY and HEALTHY HUMAN BEINGS, then one is a total and absolute DWEEB.
When people do not think about what they say, they come across as being uneducated and terribly misinformed.
I have know too many TWO parent households that have taught their children HATE, MISTRUST, VIOLENCE, and a host of other great traits just because it was "better for the children" instead of divorcing and being HAPPY.
Well the research they have done on men in prison, most grew up without a father in the home.
And does that hold true for women? I know of quite a few examples where men raise in single parent homes did great things, even PRESIDENT of a country..
How much a role did poverty have in those single parents homes?
Sometimes children of single parents do better than children of married parents. For example, a study of hundreds of 10- to 14-year olds and their parents showed that in their day-to-day lives, single parents were friendlier to their children than were married parents. The children of single parents also spent more time with people in their extended families than did the children of married parents.
But if two-parent households have twice of everything that adults have to offer children, then why don't the children in those households do far better than the children in single-parent households? And why would they ever do the same or even worse?

I know psychobabble now want to support single mothers as the best kind of household pushing men out but just common sense tells us it's not as good as 2 parent homes that have a good income. Yes, the men in prison come from poverty but a single mom usually lives in poverty without the help of a husband.
Women complain of unequal income from men then turn around and say they can raise a family on only one income that is underpaid. So which is it?
