It's nice when a holy book gives a person such a wide variety of choices for his eternal fate. In the Bible you have four fates to choose from so go ahead.....choose:
1.
God tortures some people forever after they die
And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.
Daniel 12:2
The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity; And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.
Matthew 13:41-42
If thy hand or thy foot offend thee, cut them off, and cast them from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life halt or maimed, rather than having two hands or two feet to be cast into everlasting fire.
Matthew 18:8-9
Then said the king to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and take him away, and cast him into outer darkness, there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
Matthew 22:13
Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels. ... And these shall go away into everlasting punishment.
Matthew 25:41, 46
... into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.
Mark 9:43-48
Not to crazy about that one? Remember what Mark Twain said: "Go to heaven for the climate--hell for the company" But if you still don't fancy batting the breeze with your buddies while you all incinerate you've got some more:
2.
Those that don't go to heaven, just die.
The ungodly ... are like the chaff which the wind driveth away. ... The ungodly shall perish.
Psalm 1:4-6
The wicked shall perish.
Psalm 37:20
As the whirlwind passeth, so is the wicked no more.
Proverbs 10:25
They shall be as though they had not been.
Obadiah 16
The end of those things is death.
Romans 6:21
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life.
Romans 6:23
If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy.
1 Corinthians 3:17
In them that are saved, and in them that perish.
2 Corinthians 2:15
The enemies of the cross of Christ: Whose end is destruction.
Philippians 3:18-19
There is one lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy.
James 4:12
God is playing favorites here. Some he saves, some He blots out. Try to be on the winning side with this one. But you still have two more choices:
3.
Everyone dies. There is no heaven or hell.
As the cloud is consumed and vanishes away, so he that goeth down to the grave shall come up no more.
Job 7:9
So man lieth down, and riseth not: till the heavens be no more, they shall not awake, nor be raised out of their sleep
Job 14:10-14
Yet he shall perish for ever
Job 20:7
The dead ... whom thou rememberest no more.
Psalm 88:5
For that which befalleth the sons of men befalleth beasts; even one thing befalleth them: as the one dieth, so dieth the other; so that a man hath no preeminence above a beast:
Ecclesiastes 3:19-21
the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward.
Ecclesiastes 9:5
For the grave cannot praise thee, death can not celebrate thee: they that go down into the pit cannot hope for thy truth.
Isaiah 38:18
Still doesn't sound too cool, does it? But fear not. The last one is a winner...for everyone, saint and sinner alike:
4.
Everyone goes to heaven after they die
For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.
1 Corinthians 15:22
We trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe.
1 Timothy 4:10
He is the propitiation for our sins: and not for our's only, but also for the sins of the whole world.
1 John 2:2
I think I'm going with No 4. What about you?
