No. There's no need for signs. But what you should understand, and be confident of, is that anyone who simply believes on the Lord Jesus Christ, that is, anyone who simply places his faith, his trust in Jesus, who believes that Jesus died for his sins and rose again, has eternal life and goes to heaven when he departs from his body in physical death.
Does that include the devout Christian who snaps and kills his wife when he finds her in bed with his mate?
So the non-Christian that dedicates his life to helping humanity doesn't get in...but the Christian murderer and all round bad-egg does?
No. Because without Jesus, even the BEST human being on earth is STILL a sinful human being. That includes you, me, and everyone. NONE of us are without sin. Even the guy that spends a lifetime helping humanity.
But if he, or the one who commits manslaughter (as you described it) trusts in Christ for their salvation, then they are innocent in God's eyes. The humanitarian may well receive a bigger reward in Heaven as a result of his good works.

Yes. Since Jesus paid the penalty for our sins there is no sin the believer can commit that will jeopardize his eternal salvation. The believer has been credited with the perfect righteousness of Jesus. That is the righteousness which God the Father sees when He looks at the believer as far as the issue of eternal life is concerned. Not the believer's own personal and imperfect righteousness, or lack of righteousness.
