The fear of eternal torment. That is what he believes he's saved from. If they are convinced of it, you cannot really blame them.

That's why the sane, non-Bible thumpers, should lobby their prospective governments for the changes they'd like to see...often times their big brains are not revered properly on forums and/or message boards.
