I hope I am allowed to start this thread, I saw the other one, that had been locked, but it looks like that was closed due to the VERY long copy/paste and the jewish references.
This is a thread subject that is really very interesting to me, and I think it should be a great discussion, so lets avoid super long copy/pasting, and lets keep it a christian viewpoint,(if other denominations would like to discuss the same thing on their forum, thats great, but this is a christian board).
OK...
In another thread that this came up, I likened it to this scenario...you are married and have a family, some other guy is jealous of what you have and attempts to take your spot, rebels against you, etc. so you overcome him and cast him out of your life...BUT then you ALLOW him to still have access to and be able to influence your wife and kids...???
What kind of sense is that?
What spot? The spot at your work? The spot as a husband and father?

I was referring to general position, head of the household, husband, boyfriend, father, etc.
The same way God holds the highest position in heaven, we are taught satan was jealous of 'Gods position', and he wanted to take it for himself, my analogy I used a husband/father, head of household to make my point, the man holds that position, he is the head of household, husband, father, etc.
but really, no matter what spot/position, the same thing would still apply...lets say its a job position, someone else is jealous that you hold that position and tries to take it away from you...would it make any sense for you to still ALLOW this person access to your job duties, of course not, you would want him as far away as possible, you wouldnt even want him to be allowed on the job site anymore!

If someone thought they could take my job, I usually encouraged them to get their education, so they can do my job. I never felt my job was threatened by another person I often mentored people in the workplace helping them in their career. I also encouraged their ideas to make the job better. If their job was more satisfying, so was mine.
On a personal level you in general are not acting alone. Your partner is involved in the relationship , and this other person should be discussed. If she is unaware of his interest, he is more of a stalker and she should avoid contact and take safety measures. If she is aware and feels the same, you are not in control, and should consider counseling before making any life decisions under that kind of stress.
Back to the OP, this is the main stumblingblock of Christianity, IMO. But it seems singularly difficult for people to believe in Satan, even though he is prevalent throughout the Bible. I think he likes it that way. Following him, or ignoring him, fits right in with his agenda. DH is Catholic and doesn't believe in "the devil or demons". ???
I struggle with evil in the world. But the existence of a "dark side" really helps to explain evil, to me.
Why God lets it go on, well, he is on his own timeline and we don't have the capability to understand it, or him.
I had to come to terms with my inability to comprehend so many facets of THIS world, before I could accept not understanding what's "out of this world"!
Think of the myriad of things you accept and trust, every minute of the day, that you don't fully understand.
I have memorized most of it throughout the years, and there is nothing about them never being sick or knowing only that which is good, nor anything about them living forever. And there is no such thing as a fallen angel called SATAN. God knew the desires of man, and gave them over to them.
Is the book of Job in your book? Then who confronted YHVH?
No you didn’t...You got it from a watch tower publication...
What did I get from a watchtower publication? You talk as if that would be a bad thing. Yet worldwide, by the usage of the watchtower every Jw gets the same spiritual feeding weekly, same bible reading weekly, etc-1Corinthians 1:10- unity of thought, no division. It helps get this accomplished. I know my teachers listen to Jesus.
Is the book of Job recording literal history though?
To fundies it is.
