Never change who you are to gain or keep a friend. If you must change then s/he is not a true friend and if you do change you will betray yourself.

Be who you are as long as you love one another, which includes yourself.

"Owe no man anything, save to love one another: for he that loveth his neighbor hath fulfilled the law" -Romans 13:8

"So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets." -Matthew 7:12

"Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves." -Romans 12:10

Jesus loves us as we are; but He loves us to much to leave us that way.

He enacts change in the lives of the people He calls friend (2 Corinthians 5:17 (kjv)).

In Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them; and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation.

So, you think that that means that God doesn't change people's lives when they come to Him?

We have a ministry called "Free Indeed" at our church; where alcoholics and drug addicts are being delivered from grievous addictions.

Now, read 2 Corinthians 5:17.

That is not what this thread is about though, God may and does change lives, but what is being said in this thread is not to change yourself to please men/another person - to fit in with them

My point, I think, is slightly on topic, however.

Because God is another Person.
