GSPNative, IMO, Yes you should take it as a compliment.
Was he also there by himself, or was he with wife/girlfriend?
If he was also by himself maybe it was just his way of saying "Hey, wow, it's great to see another guy here (like me) that actually
wants to be here, because it seems like a lot of guys only come because their wives make them".
