No one is ALL of one or the other. Whenever you sin you are responding to what you would call the devil. When you do not sin when tempted you are responding to Christ's Holy Spirit. Either way, you are "saved as by fire" by Jesus, but your ultimate fate will be determined by the amount of both when you die and are "born again" as Spirit.
1 John 3:9
Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.
Salvation is a free gift. You can not earn it.
It is like a car if a gave my son a car it is his not mine. If he destroys it that is his fault that doesn't mean I took it from him.
Same thing with salvation it is a free gift eternal life that God gives us it is life that will not end unless we choose to kill it with sin.
It is our life to let live or kill with sin. We can not earn it it must be given to us from God.
And just like the car I gave my son, did I really give it to him if when he chooses to destroy it I don't let him. If I could stop him that would insinuate that it wasn't really his.
You can't kill what is "born" of God, as all are. That Being that is born of God -- the truth of who you are -- can't sin. But we can certainly obscure our awareness of that Being. But, again, that won't kill who we truly are, because nothing can. aisi, ymmv

Yes, 1 John 3 is a mirror for all to peer into. It shows who are Gods children and who are the devils children. This world is in trouble as in Noahs day.
So when Peter denied Jesus (through the sin of lying), did Jesus say he wasn't a "Christian" or was on the outside now? No. Peter confessed and admitted what he had done, and they moved forward together.
Thank God the OP wasn't around to step onto the scene and issue new rules and regulations!
Really? Correct me if I am wrong but did not Jesus say this about
anyone who denied Him before men?
Matthew 10:33
But whosoever shall deny me before men,
him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.
Well, I guess the world's population of Christians just shrunk to zero.
Or them who are born of God are not Christians.
