Paul gave his story of his conversion on the road to Damascus. It's written in the Bible, and it was well known by all the other apostles. If the other apostles didn't agree with Paul being an apostle, there would be testimony to this by the apostles. They are the ones that were Jesus' closest disciples, and they were chosen for apostleship by Him. They had authority in matters like this. Commentators have NO authority in this manner.
Paul's writings do not conflict with the writings of anyone else in the Bible. Granted, he had conflicts with Peter, etc., but these things happen. Paul also often spoke from a different perspective than the other writers. Just because we may not understand the perspective that he was coming from, does not qualify it for heresy. A true student of the Word of God will approach it as the Word of God, and will try to understand the differing perspectives, rather than trying to use these perspectives as a divisive thing, which causes confusion and misunderstanding. It goes back to the old rule of the enemy...divide and conquer.
