Reformed Liberal, are you saying that Morale Officer is lukewarm? Is it because MO is Catholic? Is it because MO was baptised as an infant?......
No, who am I to judge someone's salvation.
A change of his heart--a spiritual transformation. New birth, being born again. There are many people out there who claim to be Christians but they are not. The question isn't, do you know Jesus?, the question is, does Jesus know you? Are you still holding on to secret sins, like pornography? Are you constantly repenting, constantly rededicating your life?
Do you you remember your day of conversion?. (Does not have to be exact) That is very important. Did your life go though a transformation or is it the same as when you weren't a Christian?
(John 3:3-7)
As Jesus talked with Nicodemus, He said "...Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God." Nicodemus said to Him, "How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother's womb and be born?" Jesus answered, "Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Do not marvel that I said to you, You must be born again...."

Man looks on the outside but God looks on the heart. Only God knows who has accepted the payment of his Son on the cross for their sins. I gave my life to Christ in the fall of 71. You start from there as a baby Christian and pray that you learn, listen and grow from other Christians, from reading God's word and praying for God's guidance while living here on earth. Isn't is interesting that in the Bible and in this life we experience that no one ever arrives. We don't get to the point where we don't fall, don't make mistakes or don't sin. We are always being conformed to the image of Christ but it is an on-going process. This old nature of our seems to stick by us and will until Christ comes back.
I pray that God's love shines through me daily and that I am a good representitive of his love and hope for the future. God's grace is there for all when they give their lives to Him.
Hello? Someone help us out with a proper definition of 'born-again'. Quoting scripture from the Bible is not answering the question.
You can't be serious weather?! How is quoting scripture not answering the question? And as far as if Catholics will be in heaven, please! Of course there will be Catholics there. Let's take denominations out of the discussion at this point. I am not saying a specific church or denomination is the only right one. There will be people from differing religions in heaven. It's all about a relationship with Jesus. We all may have different ways of saying it, as I learned from a good friend who is a Lutheran pastor.
How can you not say that I'm answering the question by using Bible verses? That's the source of the topic. It was Jesus who said that you need to be born again to enter the kingdom of heaven. It's not about being baptized, confirmed yada, yada, it's about being reborn in the spirit. All of the things like baptism, confirmation are an outward expression only. Those things do not save you or allow you to enter heaven. It's all about what Jesus said in the Word.

The problem I have with these questions is...
Why is it that a person has to have had a conversion? Is it not possible for a person to have always been a Christian?

IMO, its a misnomer to say that not all christians will not go to heaven. Those who don't get invited by God to recieve the inheritance were not christians in the first place.
Is there a choice in entering a mother's womb the first time? Then how do we enter spiritually by our choice?
