Oh well... No reason to hide it.

I worked a lot in Outreach in my past, and so I have bumped into the old Adam-did-Mary teaching before...LOL
Uh, I think you mean the God-did-Mary teaching. And just so that you know, it's really not what we believe. As a lifelong Mormon (I'm old, by the way ) living in Salt Lake City, I have probably known several thousand other Mormons in my life. I have met exactly one who believed God had sex with Mary.

That is a core teaching with 'some" mormons, (Im not sure of the standing of it at current, and I dont want to say it "all" mormons as I dont know that for sure or not ), But I do understand that "some?" mormons believe that the Adam/God did have real down and dirty sex with Mary*...and that because the act was with a non-normal human, they get away will still claiming she is a virgin.
If you're referring to Justamere, I don't think he meant to imply that. If he did, then I've known two Mormons who believe that. Brigham Young once made a statement to that effect, and later LDS leaders have tried to interpret it in light of other statements he made. Sometimes things taken out of context can be misinterpreted as you know. I can tell you without hesitation that Mormons as a whole believe that Jesus was born to the Virgin Mary, and we believe the word virgin to mean a woman who has not had sexual intercourse... with anyone.

*I still got some of the Mormon artwork of their god showing up at the open door of Mary .."Hey baby whats cooking?"
Sounds like something from "The Godmakers." Since there are probably rules on this forum which would prohibit my voicing my opinion about that piece of ****, I'll refrain.

anyway...back to whatever we were on topic about....
Okie dokie. Anyway, as you can see, we are in agreement on most points of what you refer to as the Trinity and what I refer to as the Godhead.
I accept that you believe what you say you believe.
I try to just go with the words on the page of the text, and then stop there.
I try, I try real hard not to toss in my own ideas that cant be clearly seen in the text.
I also try not to push ideas i know are just a guess.
What I say happend when the Word became Flesh is what the bible teaches happend.
I dont see the need to toss in more ideas as if I somehow know better than God .
Let the bible speak for itself, and then stop there...
everything added is just a guess
I do remember some type of big debate in the early church over the question...
"Was Jesus of One substance with the father, or of the Same substance with the Father?"
I believe it was a debate over the Greek words (can't remember them) meaning "of the same substance" or "of like substance." If the Latter-day Saints were to be forced to choose between these two descriptors, we'd probably go with "of like substance."
Quote:
Umm...to this day...I dont have a clue what that debate was about....
I mean...are they saying God is made of a type of "substance" like wood or cement?
I don't know. I've asked dozens of people to explain it to me and all I get is metaphysical mumbo-jumbo. The only way I could go along with the use of the word "substance" was if it referred to the qualities that make God divine, i.e. His power, knowledge, glory, perfect justice, perfect love, etc. Then I could say that the Father and the Son share these qualities.

I believe you to be sincere Alan. I also believe you and your interpretations of scripture to be fallible.
Am I the only normal Christian on the forum or something?
Everyone else but me seems to have some connection to outer space.
They might believe that Heaven is in outer space,
or thats where God lives,
or that is where the UFOs that will take christians in the rapture are from...
You guys watch a lot of Scifi by any chance?
