he was so mad that he began throwing the waters into the bags, turning the bag wheel so fast that 2 waters fell on the floor and one of them busted...well...you can see that this turned sour for him real quick...I told him that he was going to have to go back and get me another gallon, since it was his anger that caused this to happen...
Not to pick, but I believe Jesus would've gone to get the other gallon of water.
Many would call your temptation to keep the unpaid goods sin, but it was just temptation. Bad thoughts will come, but we have the ability not to obey them, and even shoot them down with good thoughts.
Whatever REASON Verna had . . . THAT IS the very process we are to use in our consciousness . . . create the opposing thoughts to cancel them out (remove the "noise" from our soul symphony) . . . just as is done in canceling "noise" from wave signals.
To those who are born of God no explanation is necessary - for those who are not - no explanation is possible....

All of us commend Verna on her honesty at the check out register......as a matter of fact there are many people "not" born again who would be honest enough to return money over-paid by a check out person......Oh and Harold just to let you know paying for "the" grape you tasted does not qualify or prove you as "Born Again"....as a matter of fact the the tone of your condemming threads on this forum and as an accuser of the faithful lead me and most other born again Christians to think you are otherwise.............God bless you Verna for doing the right thing

Well said, Vessif. Attitude control is the form of self-control that produces the mature soul through the machinery of thought. The correct attitude is reflected in Jesus's example and commands to love God and each other. Attitude determines the quality (resonance with Jesus) of the soul.
If we achieve the wrong attitude (fear of God and concern for avoiding punishment or gaining reward for ourselves), then all the proper behavior can be for naught. We could be in eternally serious trouble because our soul would not be in resonance with Jesus's love. On the other hand, if we achieve the proper attitude despite occasional wrong behavior it is probably only a question of degree . . . of just how successful we will be. . . . not whether or not we will.
The ascetics and celibates who deny themselves every conceivable form of pleasure or fun, and use their minds to inhibit and control every one of their animal drives and instincts no matter how trivial . . . may have a "show of wisdom." But Paul in Colossians warned of this approach, 2:23,
In this you follow the 'precepts and doctrines of men,' which, to be sure, have a show of wisdomin superstition and self-abasement and hard treatment of the body, but are not to be held in esteem, and lead to the full gratification of the flesh.
The mistaken attitude that leads "to the full gratification of the flesh" is condemnatory, self-righteous, judgmental, exclusive and sometimes sadistic, being motivated almost entirely out of self-interest . . . e.g., reward. and avoidance of punishment. Rather than a denial of self, it is an egoistic struggle to get special consideration in an after-life.
The "show of wisdom" refers to the correctness of the principle behind the behaviors (self-control of our animal nature) . . . and to be sure everyone who adopts an ascetic lifestyle does not have the wrong attitude. But for those who do . . . it is their reasons or attitudes that corrupt the result. This, it seems to me, can be an especially tragic error for those misguided souls who adopt this lifestyle with every good intention of fulfilling God's purpose according to the misguided instruction of literalists and fundamentalists . . . instead of following Jesus's clear example and commands insuring the right attitude.
I believe Jesus overturned evil with good. To tell the one who's wronged you to correct himself is not consistant with His ministry, imo. Instead, He said to turn the other cheek, to give the one who's taken your coat your cloak also, etc.
Defending your honor in any way is standing up for yourself, and He commanded us to lay down our lives instead.

Thank you vessif - for proving my point.
