Do you know of any country in the world today that openly practices slavery?
sure i do here ----on every major city 1000's of women many underage are bought and sold every night and most of the cruel slave masters are the decendants of slaves, nonsense? ask any CPS worker.
I beleive the slave master go by the name VISA, Master card, Discovery....

Many Christians are looking for a future 7-year tribulation and Antichrist man who will force them to take a mark in their right hand or forehead or be beheaded. Let me tell you: there is no such thing. There will be no man called Antichrist who is the devil incarnate; no mark placed on their body; no buying or selling with this mark. It would take too long to explain why, as I'm sure many of you already know the reasons, but let me just point out this one glaring fact: notice the phrase "free and slave" in the infamous Revelation passage. Do you know of any country in the world today that openly practices slavery? If there are no slaves to take the mark, then how can John's prophecy be fulfilled?
We are slaves to debt...the Bible says that those who owe money are slaves to the ones who lent it.
Also there is still slavery in the world. Its just gone underground and not visible easily.
Also need to look at the context and the root of the word.
The mark of the beast (Rev.13) deals with something that occurred during the timing of the things John was shown which were in his day to SHORTLY take place--the time was THEN near. John was told this in both the first and last chapters of the Revelation! The things contained in the Revelation (to include the mark of the beast) occurred in John's day. They are not for our day!
If the statement were literal, then why would literal slaves even be given a mark to buy or sell? Since when do slaves buy or sell anything? Literal slaves are given their food and whatever their masters think they need. Right in the beginning of Revelation, it is made clear that all the book contain signs of something to come (signified). Yeshua Meshiach is not a literal lamb, or lion (Tho I loved Aslan, lol), The earth could not survive at all if one single star crashed into it. Stars falling from the heavens is a symbol of governments falling from power. As another poster said, the forehead and hand represents our thoughts, how we think and understand, and the works that we do.
It is so tempting to think of an escape from judgment, yet Jesus said we will ALL be tried in the fire, or salted with fire. Judgement BEGINS at the House of God.

And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.
2 John 1:7
For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.
I really don't understand the confusion about the antichrist...?
