Ah, Preterist, Scarlet, & Mz - at last; a breath of common sense. Thank you. Notice how Jesus never spoke of a pre-trib rapture. Read how He said "AFTER the tribulations of those days...they shall see the Sun of Man coming w/ great power...and HE shall gather His elect from the four corners." THAT is the so-called rapture. As for the famous, Then shall two be in the field, one shall be taken and the other left..." Notice how the apostles asked Jesus, "Where (are they taken) Lord?" And Jesus replied, "To where the vultures gather to feed on dead carcasses." Doesn't sound a nice place to be taken to me!!! It was actually the wicked that was taken and fed to the birds; the righteous were left. This is the point at which the parable reads, "Let the tares and the wheat grow together until harvest. Then I will tear up the tares and burn them, but the wheat I will gather into my barn." This non-rapture stuff is plain as day all throughout the Bible. But people just refuse to give up the notion of a pre-trib rapture because 1. it's all they've been taught all their lives and 2. because the thought of escaping the difficulties of the trib is more comforting than having to face them. But the Lord promised to protect His saints from the wrath of God. They will be supernaturally protected.

So true Scarlet. The church can`t understand it because they keep trying to discern the things of God which is spirit, by the physical....remember Jesus said his words are like spirit. All the talk about fire etc,. it`s all spiritual. But the church has misled people into believing there`s an actual place called the lake of fire where people are literally burned. Jesus talked about his kingdom being not of this world, his kingdom being aleady come etc. The people could not understand him ( just like today) because they are trying to decipher his spiritual words with physical meanings.

When will we learn that God is spirit. The things God is building are spiritual, his kingdom is spiritual, and all in his kingdom will be spiritual. There is a NEW HEAVEN and a NEW EARTH. It is spiritual.
While in the Book of Revelation allegorical applications of the language are more profitable for our spiritual development, no aspect of meaning should be discounted because of some rigid doctrinaire. A world wide web as Jesus said would come upon the entire earth (cp., Lk 21:35) has already ensnared us. As a world government the United Nations (the 4th beast of Daniel's visions) has yet to mature with ten horns, assuming that may refer to todays "powers," members with nuclear arms. In the meantime the develpment of this electronic net begins to make possible a world wide economic system such as John described.
The mark of the beast (Rev.13) deals with something that occurred during the timing of the things John was shown which were in his day to SHORTLY take place--the time was THEN near. John was told this in both the first and last chapters of the Revelation! The things contained in the Revelation (to include the mark of the beast) occurred in John's day. They are not for our day!

I don't subscribe whole-heartedly to any endtimes beliefs from preterism onward. But at the same rate, I am not going to be rude about someone else's belief about it. Seriously...it has nothing to do with our salvation.
It has been several years since I read it and I don't know to cite a reference, maybe someone else will know...there are 13 or 15 African nations that presently practice slavery of darker skin blacks by lighter skin Arabs owners. This has been a real problem for African Christians. Perhaps Voice of the Martyrs has it on their site. I wonder what nations who've been invaded and are occupied by a foreign army consider themselves to be.
