while "love" is a fine thing, the truth is that the Bible is very clear in telling us not to get married to a person that is Lost...

Should a hardcore catholic bloke (yes, hardcore, you cut the person open and you find Catholicism running in the blood vessels) get "seriously" involved with an atheist woman?

I'll take your votes at face value. It's a hidden poll, I won't know who's voting, so I'd truly appreciate if non-Christians abstain from voting and not rig this one like the Afghan polls. But feel free to post opinions, if you feel like it.
I don't see anything wrong with marrying someone you love but...you always have to keep in mind that one day you will bring children into the world and how you will raise them is something you have to seriously discuss and consider amongst yourselves before you make any commitments.

Unless one of the parties makes it one, no, it doesn't have to be one at all.

I'd say it would depend on the person and it would be possible but it depends on yea what you mean by hard core, ooo watch "Brideshead Revisited" this guy is an atheist and he gets involved with a really Catholic family, but the family is kind of portrayed poorly sometimes, and well, it's a good movie though check it out.

Not to put words in to Ac's mouth, but , I come from a long line of "hardcore" Irish Catholics..Hardcore meaning there is nothing that could ever change their minds or compromise their beliefs. In the case of that side of my family there have been marriages outside of Catholicism but the spouse either converted or agreed to raise the children in the Catholic Church..

Well, you're certainly putting probabilities over possibilities, and isn't God a God of Possibility? Isn't that basically what's ever being pored over, well and poorly, on these forums? It's like favoring signs over meaning, and even sterility over life; that is, well, over love. Who knows where this will lead? Obviously--probably--to complications. But even a piece of fruit can lead to complications. (I'm not talking about the Apple. I've discovered guavas don't exactly agree with me, tasty though they are.) Catholicism should have taught you that nothing worldly is perfect.

But, wow, you're not even in the relationship yet. It could be more complementary than you ever anticipated. Yes, there's the issue of orthodoxy in marriage and the raising of children. She could accede to a Catholic upbringing as long as it's balanced with pan-philosophical exposure, which everyone needs anyway of course, atheists included. We both know that our faith is not incompatible with scientific discovery, so that's not an issue. As for the children, June is a nice name, but might I suggest Bunjee? It's very hardcore.
