This whole scenario sounds rather odd to me....I don't think prison inmates would deliberately try to harm folks who were volunteers, there to help them. If they wanted to harm anyone, it would be the guards....I probably would've felt okay about eating it, unless I felt impressed not to, and as I say, I doubt inmates would try to harm volunteers, JMHO

I dont know why you think inmates would not hurt volunteers,we had a situation, where we had just got to the prison and while we were waiting to be escorted to the womens section a code came ove the intercom and a lock down was initiated. The warden came out and told us that a threat on our life was being plotted and somehow a inmate had gotten a hold of a knife and was going to use it once the guard left us alone with them so they had to do a shake down, they found the knife under the inmate enormous breast locked her and some others in the hole as theycalled it and we were able to help the others that wanted help

And are you not being the same towards ChristyGrl?

Perhaps she said what she did because of the OP saying "HOLD ON THE INMATES COOKED MY APPRECIATION MEAL!you know I lost my appetite"

Jesus ate with sinners. Was he wrong to do so?

I'm not a regular on this particular forum, thus far, I've seen nothing
indicating that posters are hypocritical or judgmental. Christian Ministry
in prisons doesn't mean you throw your common sense aside.

To the OP, I wouldn't have eaten either. Was the food not prepared properly,
under cooked meat, poor sanitary conditions, you didn't mention?

Nope...Lk 6:45...for his mouth speaks from that which fills his heart.

One who truly has a heart for prisoners in Prison Ministry would never have a thought like that...and you will know them by their fruit.

You will always know someone by their fruit....as her post indicated, her first thought was...."HOLD ON THE INMATES COOKED MY APPRECIATION MEAL!you know I lost my appetite". It's obvious by her response that she shouldn't be involved in Prison Ministry because her heart isn't really in it.

To the OP: I really am curious as to why you are involved in Prison Ministry if this is the attitude you have toward prisoners. Don't you realize but for the grace of God...there go us? We are no different than them in they eyes of God...a sinner is a sinner...each sin is exactly the same in Gods eyes.

You can try to change the spots on a leopard, you can lead a horse to water,
but you can't make him drink. The purpose of Ministering in prisons is the hope
that if you can make a difference in one persons life, you were
successful, but the fact of the matter is prisons are full of psycho/sociopathic types,
their not curable and good at faining appearances.
So, its likely the one Ministering gets more from the experience than for those its intended for.
Sorry, but even you don't sit on the thrown next to God. For someone
who has a problem with hypocrites and the judgmental, your setting a poor example.
