BOISE (AP) — A Christian group will once again camp out in front of City Hall and offer to pay off up to $10,000 dollars in parking tickets for any passersby.
Organizers say the Dec. 12 event is an example of how easy it is to receive God's grace.

Well, I guess that could come under the "random act of kindness" category..But, personally, I think the money could have been best spent to feed and clothe the needy in the town..

Reaching out to others is great... I say more power to 'em.
Perhaps they are doing this because it's drawing attention (because it's an odd thing to do.) And it certainly is, it's on the news, eh?

I don't think it's dumb. Yeah, the money could be better spent.
But maybe there is one person out there that really needed help.
God works in strange ways. Who knows.

I wish they would camp out in my town and offer to pay people's speeding tickets.. . heh... kidding. kidding...!!!

(well. sort of kidding. sometimes, with wind speed, and wing aerodynamics, I get to flying a little quicker than I should.)

It extremely obvious that this church needs to find out exactly who they are supposed to be taking care of....it certainly isn't lawbreakers.....what a bunch of morons.

No kidding... you don't get tickets to begin with by being smart. Isn't that kinda-sorta rewarding bad behavior?

I guess you're just trying to make light of the situation and, really, what the hell else can we do at first glance at this TOTAL ridiculous trainwreck of a purported "good" gesture...are we in an alternate reality, or on a Seinfeld episode?!? ACCCKKK!

All joking aside, though- I have to say this is not only a peculiar misdirection of kindness, but a pretty bad message that this church is sending out! I'm sorry, but when I park wrong or in a bad spot I KNOW it- and so does everyone else. We've all done it. And we deserve to pay the damn fine that comes with it because it was OUR FAULT!!! Removing the consequences of such actions demonstrates a complete disregard for justice which is obnoxious enough as it is, and besides- I just don't think such a gesture will do a damn thing except make a bunch of jerks think they got away with something. Why didn't they go to the power company and offer to pay off late power bills that people are struggling to pay in this economy? Or if they want to be simple just go and pay the fee for the next 10,000 people to use a local toll road?!? THAT would be a nicer, and more sensible and APPRECIATED random act of kindness. As well as a way better use of money- which obviously this church must have a lot of if they can waste it in the frivolous way that they did. I just hope that, on an off chance, at least some of those people were made to feel good and appreciative enough that they take the time to remember to "pay it forward". In which case, maybe some actual good might come out of this whole charade.

They are illustrating grace to give an example to others of what God's grace is to better understand of what the Father did by sending His Son Jesus Christ to die on the cross for our sins.He paid the price that we did not merit. The church people are paying the fines of the guilty who did not merit it. They are not there just to pay the parking tickets but to share the Gospel,to bring people to the Lord.
