While discussing the Power of Faith the other day, with a neighbor chap...

He said after a well rounded discussion regarding Faith...."God doesn't have Faith" He see's everything. So He doesn't need it.

What say CD Believers?

Does God have Faith?

Is Faith blind?

Is Faith a Power?

Is it a Substance?

or all the above?

godspeed,

freedom

Yes God has faith:

Rom 3:3 For what if some disbelieve? Will not their unbelief nullify God's faith?

"Literally, the phrase "the faithfulness of God" in Romans 3:3 speaks of "the faith of God," as is indicated by the typefaces used in the CV. With Deity, faith and faithfulness are the same. What God believes, He faithfully carries out. In this there is a great contrast with human believing, which indeed is the very point of emphasis in Romans 3:1-4. "Now let God be true, yet every man a liar." (Dean hough, Unsearchable Riches, vol.86, p.80).

Faith is defined here.

Heb. 11:1 - Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.

Does God see everything? Yes. So nothing is "not seen" for God. Therefore, He does not need faith. He is omniscient (all knowing).

Someone quoted Rom. 3:3 - the NASB is a mostly word for word translation that says...

Rom. 3:3 - What then? If some did not believe, their unbelief will not nullify the faithfulness of God, will it?

It is not that God has faith - but His character is about His faithfulness. It is not saying that He has faith.

Yes God said he has faith in his word for us;; in Deuteronomy 31:8 ; For the Lord Goes with you ; he will never leave you nor forsake you,,,,,, With Joshua 1:5,,, he said :No one will be able to stand up against you all the days of your life as I was with Moses so I will be with you I will never leave you nor forsake you ; again in 1 Kings 8:57, and in Hebrews 13: 4-6 ,,,, The Lord confessed his faith twice in the word and twice by his children

Romans 3:3 states that Israel's unfaithfulness cannot nullify God's faith. Faith and Belief and Believe use the same Greek word. God has faith that He will bless Israel and that He will fulfill the promises given to Abraham that in him shall all the nations of the earth be blessed. This promise does not depend upon Israel's faithfulness but upon God's faith or belief that this is what He will do.

God knows all. He does not need to trust in anybody. He already knows what has and what will happen.

You are speaking of God's faithfulness - the part of His character that He will do what He says regardless of how we behave.

That's what Romans 3:3 is referring to - regardless of how Israel behaves, God will remain faithful to them.

God does not need faith that He will do something. He just does it. Who is able to stop what He would do to the point where He would need faith to get something done? Nobody. Therefore He does need faith.
