There's a church playing pop songs around Westwood Town Hall with their bells. Seems like every hour and it's *almost* starting to get on my nerves. There's 4 churches in that area but I think the culprit is the Methodist church.

I do need to lighten up but at what point does it become frivilous? Maybe if it were hymns (but who would recognize them) or Christmas songs, it would be more appropriate. They played "Ding Dong The Witch Is Dead" from WoO yesterday, lol.

I think that's awesome! Then again I'm miles away and don't have to hear it all day...haha!

Loveland does it too, and they're obviously fake "speaker" bells. It drives me nuts, because it's so tacky and lame, and it plays every hour. Using real bells is cool, but it should really be limited to special times or just something like noon and 5 pm or something like that.

We have two churches near us that duel it out at noon and 6 p.m. But at least they stick to hymns and then seasonal music at Christmas.

Witch songs ... that just ain't right!

Reminds me of being back in an Army barracks in Baumholder, Germany (66-69) where our good-hearted colonel insisted on playing Xmas music for two weeks over outdoor loudspeakers 24hrs/day! We all slept with pillows over our heads and many of us have never sang a Xmas song since!

Christ the King in Mt. Lookout does that. Surprisingly, what I heard them playing was Joseph Haydn's Deutschlandlied, commonly recognized as the German national anthem. Perhaps they had guests.

I completely understand. I lived directly across from a church off McMillan, but I always knew what time it was without a clock! hey, ho!

I believe a church off of McMicken does the same thing, and if you are a certain distance away from it, it's out of tune. Sorta creepy. Or just annoying.

I used to live across the street from a church that rang it's bells. It drove me crazy. Sometimes they'd ring them for over 15 minutes, and I'd have to turn off the movie I ws watching, couldn't talk on the phone etc. I think it's wrong that a church can do this. A ding or two for the time or something wouldn't be bad, but minutes and minutes of ringing should be against the noise ordinance.

Is this what we're complaining about now? Did they erect these churches after you moved in? You picked your residence, right? I lived for 16 years 2 blocks from a fire station and I heard sirens and horns all day and night. That's part of the deal. Maybe I should have complained to the city and have them turn their sirens down.
