So, please, use appropriate pronouns. I would strongly suggest to substitute "WE" for "They".
I think you meant substitute: 'They" for "WE".' Don't take this correct as an agreement with the message.

There was a reason why you moved back and you obviously expected something to be different then what it actually is. I would definitely give Australia another chance after all it is your first home. Australia doesn't have as much to offer but we live in such a global world now the Internet can get most things to you with a click of a mouse and there are many Australian companies who can ship stuff to you from companies who do not offer international shipping.

The lifestyle in Australia is so much nicer than the US. I'm not sure what your situation was in Ohio but people actually know how to take a day off in Australia. In California a lot of people work 6-7 days just to survive and work very long days. Family life in Australia is a lot more valued.

I didn't read which city you are in? I'm from Melbourne and i can understand the house affordability issue. Why don't you start with something small like a unit or an apartment at least that will get you started for now.

Yeeps....I'm in the same situation!!! I have been in Australia for a little over three years, and find the cost of living outrageous!!!! The savings I have at the moment could practically by two homes in my home state of Ohio!!!....anl1979, I feel your stress. I am renting out just a small BEDROOM for 170 a week!!! However, I do not have a family so I can imagine your difficulties in your decision. I understand the "aussie" life I respect the huge diversity and cultural influences. But I feel that the cost of living in Australia compared to the US is just to bloody high to have a even a middle class upbringing. The only really amazing thing here are the weather and the beaches, yes the people are friendly as well. I am looking to move after the holidays, just trying to figure out if I should relocate back to Ohio for a while or head off to a random state and job search
