I am tired of driving to Dayton everytime I want to travel by air.
You can bet the governing board of CVG was al for Delta when they were growing it into a major hub. Now those same people have their pants around their knees since their courting of one airline has placed them into dire straits. What is the old axiom about putting all of your eggs in one basket?

I agree the thread was hijacked somewhat. But don't be concerned about Chiquita, if they go anywhere it will not be Charlotte.

We don't need a new thread on Frisch's, we have beat it enough to death already.

But the Chiquta moving also seems to have simmered down. Typical, most announcements are designed to solicit concessions from the identified cities. Frankly, I don't believe any city is going to get overly excited about seducing Chiquta moving there. They are just not that large of a local impact, since most of their investments are tied up in the producing countries for their product.
Good sized company, yes, major contributor to the local economy, no.

I think the Charlotte city council has been bending over backward trying to steal Chiquita, offering all sorts of incentives and packages to woo them.

Shady, if you ask me. But that seems to be the nature of some of these southern cities (Charlotte and Atlanta particularly). I'll probably always hold it against Atlanta for stealing NCR from Dayton. I'm sure Atlanta doesn't care, but I make it a point not to spend any money in that city when I drive through or connect flights in their monstrosity of an airport.

NCR was a major loss to Dayton, even though they had shrunk considerably.

Chiquita is a significant company and I like the statement they issued concerning the death of their former chairman, Carl Lindner Jr. One thing is for sure, if Carl was still around they would be going nowhere. Even though he had sold his interest in the company, he would have persuaded them to remain in Cincinnati.

But as I understand it they have moved the display to the Museum Center (Union Terminal). Maybe not all that bad.

How true! I miss it also.
