I have an acquaintance that has a moderate gluten intolerance. She can eat corn, oats, and rice but not wheat. Does anyone know of any restaurants, preferably on the east side of town, that have a good gluten-free menu? I know she is self conscious and doesn't like asking the server herself about individual items(a language issue is in play as well), so I would prefer if the restaurant was entirely gluten free or they have a designated gluten free labeling on their menu.

Just FYI she is an exchange student that my parents are hosting (putting the empty house to use) and I want to give her a list of restaurants that she can go to (from fast food to nice) without worrying about gluten.

If you just do a Google on gluten free restaurants in Cincinnati you will receive quite a number of hits.

About two years ago the wife was told she should be on a gluten free diet. After throwing virtually everything in the pantry out and purchasing a number of gluten free cookbooks, I felt I was a purgatory as I could puke over most of the gluten free recipes. Thankfully her doctor reversed his opinion and said forget the gluten free diet. Glory, Glory, Hallelujah!.

I am sure there are valid reasons to be on a gluten free diet. And for those people I only wish the best.

Yow, Loving Hut's menu sounds a lot more appetizing than the one posted at the vegan place in my neighborhood. Just about everything they offer appears to have brewer's yeast is thrown in. BLECCCHHHH!!! For lack of anything that comes across as edible they've never gotten my business.

The cooks at the South Indian restaurant Amma's Kitchen, in Roselawn, prepare all of the menu items from scratch. Anyone there should be aware of what contains gluten, and - if so - whether an alternative could be made. They have a lunch buffet every day of the week, which is strictly vegan on Wednesdays. On the other six days the menu is 100% vegetarian. Meeting dietary needs ought to be a non-issue for them. What's more, their food is AWESOME. Amma's Kitchen

One way Cincinnati trumps Boston is in the way of eating places where no animals are harmed for consumption.
