Granite or Quartz

There are lots of counter options. Many of the laminate do not look like laminante now because the edge technology is improved.

I like engineered quartz, I also like some of the new glass resin products that have come out in the last few years which seem to be pretty durable, Concrete counter is somewhat passe now except outdoors for grills.

What you use really depends on how expensive your house is usually. I think if you talk to most realtors its all about granite. I am amazed however how many 'expensive' (luxury) 400-700 K houses downtown have Ikea cabinets and laminate, or their granite which runs only about 50-70 bucks a sq ft.

I think good design, nice layout, quality appliances trumps countertops but that is what people notice.
