We went this evening. Walking in, everything seemed the same as in the past. Same warm reception area. Friendly staff. Rooms upstairs were the same visual treat as in the past.

The restaurant has not changed much. Menu updated and wait-staff younger than in the past. The relish tray is no longer brought to the table. It is on the appetizer menu.

The house salad was great. And I am not a salad person

They had a great seasonal menu, 3 course, but we elected to eat off the main menu.

The food was excellent, much better than our past few experiences. I had a wonderful duck dish accompanied with mashed sweet potato. Two people in our party had salmon and loved it. One had a steak, grilled to perfection. And my sister-in-law went nuts over a pan brazed scallop dish.

We skipped desert. We brought a 90th B'day cake. Forgot to ask to see desert menu.

Overall, it was an excellent evening. The total cost was about twice the tip we left at Carlos and Johny's Fri night

Highly recommended to anyone here

Holy crap!

I found the Golden Lamb's dinner menu PDF online. I've paid more for mediocre food and their prices sound proportionate. It sounds like they've turned things around.

Recent online reviews I've seen don't blast the Golden Lamb and seem to center around 4-4.5 out of 5 stars or whatever.

What I have stated in this thread is the overhang from older, pre-2010 reviews, plus negative or irritating experiences some (such as myself) have had there in the past, years ago. (The last time I went was around 2002 or so and the experience just irritated the s*** out of me.)

I'll keep an open mind. Maybe we'll give it a shot some time.

mike1003 ...

Glad to hear you had an enjoyable experience. Very pleased they are at least holding their own. We have an anniversay coming up next month. Would you recommend for that? Those pan fried scallops sound good.

I'm fuzzy about this. Did you say you need handicapped access, or was it someone else? If yes, I would call and ask. There are steps from the street into the building. There may be access from the side

If it is accessible, I highly recommend it

It has been a couple of years since we were there, but something in my mind seems to remember access from around back where the store is.

^I remember the same.

mike1003, I am glad to hear the Golden Lamb was good. The last time I went was a year or two ago and I got the turkey dinner. Good, but not stellar (on par with Bob Evans). I will have to go again soon!

Thanks for the reminder. Yes we need handicap access and have not been to the Golden Lamb since my wife began requiring the wheelchair. I will call and inquire.

Also, if I remember right the White House on Mulhauser had handicap access through the bar/lounge entrance while the main entrance had steps. So I assume Casa Bianca is the same.

Kjbrill, I was at the Golden Lamb tonight and asked about wheelchair access. Indeed the dining room is accessible. You probably remember that the lobby entrance on Broadway requires you go up steps to the check-in counter area, and you then go back and to the right, down a ramp to the restaurant. But the next door north of the lobby door on Broadway (to the right as you face the building) opens directly from the sidewalk into the dining room, and there is no step here, nor doorsill, only a slightly sloping concrete apron. Staff advises to send someone in the lobby entrance to alert the counter person or hostess, who will go around and open the accessible door for you.

Also, you should let the restaurant know at the time you make your reservation that one of your party is a wheelchair user, and they will make sure you are given a table where this will work well.

Wherever you end up going, I hope you and your wife have a good time.
