My car needs a new engine. As a result I am unable to work right now and probably for the next week. Instead of sitting around doing nothing at home I figured I could take the bus to Cincy from Indy and spend a day and night doing a few things. Can use the local bus service to get around.

Since my home in Covington does not have the water turned on right now I need to know if any of the YMCA facilities in NKY or Cincinnati have showers available to non members? I remember the Hartford YMCA had a gym and showers available to the general public i.e. non members for a fee. I need to find a place to take a shower since I would spend an overnight at my home in lieu of staying at a motel.

Haven't you gotten to know some of your neighbors? I don't think asking to borrow a bathroom for that purpose is too much to ask, though anybody you're not well acquainted with might give you funny looks. But where gyms are concerned, here's a thought. A lot of the "McGym" chains like LA Fitness offer a free day or week's membership to get people through the door. Do some Web browsing and make a few calls and I bet your problem's solved.
As for other "business," your best bet for non-sketchy facilities would be off a hotel lobby.

You buy a washing machine hose. It has female ends on both ends. You run your hose to the washing machine hose which is hooked up to your neighbor's outside faucet. you open both faucets and VOILA! Your system is pressurized with water, your toilets, sinks and showers work, and all you need to do is make sure the hose doesn't burst outside which it should not.

Thanks for the suggestions. I don't think I want to impose upon my neighbors in this manner.

If worse comes to worse, I will have to wait and take a shower when I get home. As it turns out I may be working at least a few days with a company provided vehicle and may have to wait on the trip. By that time maybe another idea will come up.

May look into this. I don't use Gym's but if I can get a single month pass for that price and can use the shower for 15 minutes that will work.

I've only been in my neighborhood gym of choice twice in the past 15 months. The first time was to get in on a deep-discount membership bargain. The second was to renew. My pass stays on my key chain, but I couldn't tell you how long it's been since I should've re-upped again. So I feel ya there!

Planet Fitness aka Planet Fatness is notorious for handing out free pizza and bagels on given days, to "incentivize" their members to come in. Might as well learn when those days are to get the most out of $10! (Note, the one in my city as well as in many other locations around the country is "re-branding" as "Rock'n Fitness," so if you don't find anything under one name check the other.)
