I saw Rainman in Michigan while visiting my sister; during that scene I heard someone about five or six rows behind me whisper: "You can't get 97X on Columbia Parkway!" and I burst out laughing to the confusion of everyone else in the theater. I'd have loved to have been able to chat with that person after the movie. LOL

All the hard core fans knew where the signal reached, I knew members of the WOXY board who would only live where the signal reached, would only buy a car if the radio picked up 97X and when I had to buy a new clock radio I went to the Lebanon Kmart and tested out every one they had to see which one got the signal best.

Problem is,those of us who grew up and were raised in Cincinnati don't need to be constantly reminded about our heritage as we know it extremely well. Ruth Lyons was a tremendous asset to this city, perhaps more than any of her age bracket politicians. No let me revise that, she exceeded any of the politicians. I liked all of the musicians on her shows, and the Ohio State Fair broadcasts were the most.

But after that, take all of the musicians, whether TV or Radio and stuff them.

Now, at my age I still like to see Rob Braun and Cammy Dierking on TV. To me they represent the essence of what Cincinnati is all about. Generation to generation of local people.
