For all my compatriots in Lebanon they will kick everyone else's butt in this questionnaire considerably.

There aren't any. It's a smaller district, over a similar or larger piece of real estate, than Lebanon. Smaller school districts don't always offer as many elective classes, activities, sports, etc.

Goshen is a more rural area than Lebanon is. That will have some social issues -- kids living farther away from their friends, etc.

Goshen is OK. Your kids will get a decent education there. The neighborhood you're looking in is solidly suburban. It's fine.

Some of those points are valid. But see you begin to waffle. There is NOWAY Goshen can match Lebanon, plain and simple. Goshen may be just fine for your desires. But does it match Lebanon in the over all scope of things - NOPE. Which just about sums up LeBanon's feeling about Mason. Hard to go from the Big Dog in the pond to not such a big dog.

Just damn glad I was able to move to Mason. When I moved here we were the little squirt on the block. Now we are among the Big Squirts. Not that it will mean anything to me. Just get out there and advocate where you live, and doubly demand what your local government is doing to protect your interests.

This mentality is what is wrong with education.

Who on earth decided to turn it into a competition?

Everyone at the K-12 level should receive an adequate education, plain and simple. There should be no competition. Education isn't a game, it's a necessity. Why the heck don't we treat it like something every citizen needs instead of like a football game?

In the meantime OP (I'm sure you flew the coop eons ago anyways, so let's have some fun and shoot this thread on a few tangents, especially given how an education discussion can draw in some good commentary on Cincinnati's uniquely strong parorchial educational system) stay the heck out of Colerain! Otherwise, whatever.

Hey, you actually fit on a suburban equation, we want to live where we want to live. What do you want to know about that?

I appreciate the reply Kjbrill but it's flying over my head.

How does "living where we want to live" tie in with universal school quality?

^His last point was genius though.

There are many days I feel like I need an encyclopedia containing all the nonsense just to understand what's going on.

i.e. take a look at the marijuana thread I started in the Ohio subgroup on here. I honestly have no clue what's going on.

Why thank you.

Of course if someone wants to dog on Lebanon and go on about how much better Mason is I will bring up:

The Stacy Schuler sex scandal.

The RWNJ school board member who raised a stink over Muslim students being allowed to sit in an empty classroom during lunch through Ramadan because 'murica is a Christian nation.

Disbarred Nutjob Mason municipal court judge George Parker.

The "speak English for service" pleasure inn.

Former city councilman turned state rep turned felon Pete Beck.

The downtown trailer park.

Nope, you may continue to dismiss Mason any way you want. But after 40 years of living here, I will take it as one of the best suburbs in all of Cincy.

Hyde Park and Mt Lookout will deliver if you have enough bucks. I feel about the same for Blue Ash and Montgomery. Somehow Oakley and Madeira have placed themselves into the upper stratosphere. But for overall comfortable living you can't beat Mason. I have no reason to wish Cincinnati any harm . I also have no reason to go there. They offer me virtually zero I can't find here in Warren Co. To me that is Great, means Greater Cincinnati is a great place to live no matter where you are.
