If I was going to retire around here, I'd go to that area around Lexington KY. The little towns down there. Winchester, Elizabethtown, Versailles, Shelbyville, etc.

Default Mariemont is fantastic

In general Hamilton County property taxes and municipal income taxes are on the high side, not to mention Ohio sales tax. So it is not normally a retiree destination, unlike say Tennessee. The unincorporated Townships (Columbia, Sycamore, ?) have no municipal income tax so many people target those areas. I think Cincinnati has alot to offer, my widowed retired MIL from the east coast snowbirds to a rental nearby us and she LOVES it and has found many other nearby grandparents doing the same thing. Why not just actually move to where your child lives? Then you can be more involved in the lives of the grandkids.

I think Mariemont is a good fit, flat, safe, walkable, grocery and library nearby, good senior services. THE MARIELDERS, INC.
I second this post- Mariemont is fantastic for seniors. My only quibble is that the property taxes are wickedly high. There are also some condos tucked away in Loveland that are quite nice and just a short drive away from everything...hospitals, shopping, libraries, groceries, you name it.

Blue Ash has been building quite a number of condos, and depending on whether or not you require single story living, something can be found in a range of prices and styles.
