Hello,

I have may have a chance to relocate to Cincy with my company. I am currently in Boston, MA. I used to visit Cincy on business once a month, and always thought it was a pretty decent city, although never thought about moving there. I really liked the Mt. Adams area as well.

Can someone comment on the overall safety of both Cincy and Mt. Adams? Also, what type of commute will I have from Mt. Adams to Cincy everyday? Are there any buses with a route to/from Mt. Adams? Also, are there any other safe places to live in and/or around Cincy? I would like to spend no more than $1000 for a 1 bedroom apt... my main concern is safety... to be within walking distance of shops, restaurants, nightlife, etc would be a plus though.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Sean

You can walk downtown from Mt. Adams, or take the bus if you're so inclined. Dunno what the rents are, but it's perfectly safe with plenty of nightlife.

Yes, a lot of people walk to Downtown from Mt. Adams!

Like the poster has already stated above, Mt. Adams is VERY safe with great streetlife, bars, restaurants, shops, etc ...

It's a very upscale area with great views and architecture as well!

Your rent will be pricey in Mt. Adams, but for $1k, I would think you could find something. Maybe a smaller 1 bd, or a studio..?

Out in the hinterlands (N. suburbs) a 2bd goes for about 800 to 900.. But I would think since Mt. Adams is SO desirable, the rents would be considerably more. Look on Craig's list, or try some rental sites..

I recently looked at renting a 1-BR in Mt Adams. It is definitely a great place to live, but I found you don't get much apartment for your money. There was at least one 1-BR available for about $900. Towne Properties may have something available over there... (not making a recommendation, just letting you know about one possible option). If you like Mt Adams, you might also want to check out Hyde Park and Mt Lookout. The rents are generally somewhat lower than Mt Adams, and you'll get more apartment (but don't count on the great views that Mt Adams has).

Default Mt Adams

You may want to consider neighborhoods like Covington or Newport. Covington's Licking Riverside district has lots of nice rentals in that price range. You have resturants, bistros and coffee shops. Walking distance to downtown or by bus. Try craigslist for rentals. Here is the link.

Agreed - NKY is quickly becoming a great place to live close to downtown, but farther from any bad stuff of downtown.

I experienced first hand some of the bad stuff in Newport, in the Mansion Hill area when I lived there.

Not really secluded from "bad". I can't speak for Covington from experience by living there.
