You guys really rock! I wish I could magically pick all your brains as I'm still trying to figure out Cincinnati after all these years.
My kids and I were leaning toward Woodlawn while my wife liked Northagte because of the size of the Kitchen (I didn't know it's that important lol). But she also like the "feel" of Woodlawn and its perfect location for us, being the midpoint of places we frequently visit (Downtown, Westchester, loveland and Colerain Twp.) and I think your comments will definetly help us win her over.
Yeah, Woodlwan is looking more and more like our new home.

Thanks again,
Jean Jacques

Whatever you pick, I wish you well. ANY city is only as good as its citizens. From what I perceive, welcome here, and elevate wherever you settle to a higher level.

Who's to say no houses in Woodlawn have big kitchens?
You also don't have to settle for floor plans as they are. Separate dining rooms are pretty much a thing of the past now, but you can bet your bottom dollar that most of the dwellings around there have 'em. Easy solution: knock down a wall and create one big cooking/eating area. My sister and BIL who live in the Cincinnati area have never had a choice but to live in a big house - they have four kids as well as several cats. But wherever they've called home has never had a dining room set off by itself. Unless you call in caterers and host formal dinner parties, there's no real need for a "DR."
Before making a final decision as to which community to live in, though, have you taken a look in Springdale and Finneytown?

I'm a lifelong resident of Colerain and while we are disappointed in some of the changes in our area, we are working for change. Citizens must be vocal! If you like the Colerain area, I would consider areas south of Compton (good neighborhood on Zoellner Dr) or west of Colerain until the parts of the Groesbeck, Northbrook and Skyline areas improve. Also, looking at the State of Ohio school district report cards, Northwest is rated Excellent while Princeton is rated lower as Effective.ODE: iLRC Districts Home

I'm sorry my post uploaded 3 times. when i post from my blackberry the message does not upload until i send it a second time..weird.

I grew up kinda close to the colerain side of town and used to work over that way (long time ago!) Northgate was my hang-out spot wiht my friends. We would go to the movies over there and then go to the mall. I worked at a disount store on Colerain that is no longer open. Even back at that time (early 90's) there were low income and section 8 problems starting to occur. I am liberal/moderate BUT I detest section 8 because it DESTROYS every neighorhood where there is an overabundance. Add in the resentment that builds from the more blue-collar minded communites and residents and you have a recipe for disaster. **Please note I am NOT putting down blue-collar folks, hell my dad was one. However, he was quick to temper and almost shot a neighbor that had busted out his basement window-no accident.

I think Princeton is slightly better than the high school near Colerain, but evaluate what challenging programs exist and remember test scores don't tell the full story.

^5 Go Guy.

There are some really nice tudor style homes in Finneytown. I am partial to the area north of North Bend Rd (until Compton rd) and west of Winton Rd. That area has awlays had a "grounded" feel to it. Not a lot of rental houses and more families.
