I was born there, too! At Valley, not at the train station.

And then I returned to Valley 33 years later to give birth, just like a salmon.

I did catch the train from Ridgewood for about 20 years, until last year when I moved to Monmouth County.

It's the only train station that's an example of Mission Revival style architecture in the east. Built in 1916. I remember that from the plaque on the building. Thanks for the pic!

Good point. They are full-size trains and have to follow FRA rules for heavy rail.

The two stations I use are very nice, Park Ridge and Montvale (respectively). None of the pictures do either one justice, I'll try to snap a couple of nicer photos and put them up.

To me Grand Central NYC, 30th Street in Philly, and Union in DC are by far the most visually dramatic and just plain grand spaces.

I highly recommend anyone in the area or passing through to make sure you take a few moments to get inside these architectural gems!

This isn't my favorite station but it's the closest major station. I like that it's one of the more modern stations, they really fixed it up A LOT. Now if they fixed up the subway portion...

I am always amused by the number of major stations named Pennsylvania (Penn) Station along the NE corrider. (NY, Newark, Baltimore) and the one in PA is called 30th Street. I know the reason but still find it to be peculiar

OLD New York Penn Station

I love:
30th Street Philadelphia
Grand Central Terminal
Hoboken Terminal
Boston South
Washington Union Station

Among the rest, some are nicer than others, but most are pretty unremarkable.
