I am curious to know what people from around the US think is the best downtown in Florida is. By downtown I don't mean skyline. The skyline can be a factor but I'm looking for more than just that, like neighborhoods, restaurants, night life, shopping, venues, arts/culture, etc.. You can include pictures.
If you want to, you can also ranked them since most people are just gonna say Miami and be done with it.
Here are my rankings:
Miami
Orlando
Ft. Lauderdale
Tampa
St. Pete
Jacksonville
Daytona Beach
Tallahassee
I don't think its dead most of the time, they've been putting clubs, bars, restaurants, stores etc. things like that to attract more people and it seems to be paying off. I don't really think its crime ridden either, maybe some areas west of downtown, but not downtown itself.

Miami's DT is really nothing special for a city its size. I would rather go to South Beach, but it still beats out the rest of Florida. Orlando and Tampa are close. Tampa has added some new parks, new museums, is extending the streetcar into downtown, and has a waterfront, and maybe im biased, but I just find it to be more beautiful then Orlando's DT. Orlando does have more nightlife in its DT, but Ybor City in Tampa only about ten blocks away. I put Ft Lauderdale at four, but I really don't know much about it. I added Sarasota and Key West because I think they should get some recognition too.
