they both get hot and humid in the summer months and both have cold snowy winters. I don't think either is really known for its nice weather, despite what locals might tell you...
I have been in Boston for 2 months and so far its not that bad. Coming from the mid-Atlantic, it's actually a breath of fresh air to have lower humidity and slightly cooler temps. I'm not sure how I will fare with a New England winter, but part of me thinks I'd at least rather have real snow (even if it is measured in feet) than the sludgy mess you get in the mid-Atlantic states.

You get a sludgy mess in Boston too
...just a ****load more of it.
My only serious complaint with Boston weather (and Halifax weather, and a lot of coastal Northeast cities) is the slush. I grew up 8 miles inland from Boston and we got plenty of real snow but Boston always gets sleet and ****. Part of this is being near the ocean and the other is being a city (more cars, snow gets pushed around and melts quicker). Obviously Boston gets real intense snow sometimes and other times its 60 and sunny in the winter. But there is always plenty of wet crap too, you can count on that.
I think answer lies in a simple question! Of which do you prefer: a Sunny winter or a Cloudy winter...
