Who have better weather? I lived in Chicago for a few years and thought the winters where so overblown, it was cold but not how people make it seem.I Will make my first trip to Boston next month, and is wondering how do they weather compare.

If you look at averages, the cities both have surprisingly similar weather.

Chicago averages 3-5 degrees colder in the winter than Boston, and Chicago also averages 2-3 degrees warmer in the summer.

Boston averages more precipitation than Chicago in winter, less in summer, and its all-time record lows are actually lower than those of Chicago.

Wind speeds in Boston average 15-20% greater than those in Chicago, both in winter and in summer.

Chicago tends to have average higher humidity in the mornings, but the cities are roughly equal throughout the year on afternoon humidity.

(I found all these by just googling - "average humidity chicago" "average wind speed boston", etc.)

If you look at temperatures alone, Boston appears to be milder than Chicago. But they're both too cold for my liking. I know this thread isn't NYC vs Chicago but I just have to include this joke I heard: Chicago was settled by a bunch of New Yorkers that thought New York just wasn't cold enough.

It sucks both places. Theres 3 options between October and April: Cold, Colder, and Frozen Hell.

Its too bad because they are such wonderful cities. Chicago is my favorite city in the US.

That pretty much sums up my thoughts. The north while not a monopoly ...def has cities I like more than the rest of the country.

This kind of proves my sentiments of the 6 month winter... if it is snowing...that is winter in my book.

Actually Boston is usually very nice through mid-November. The real problem is the tail end of winter, March and April.
