New Orleans is the more unique city by a lot. San Antonio is nice, and it's unique for Texas but it's a good rival for Fort Worth, New Orleans can only be rivaled by Miami in the South for uniqueness, and even then, I think it still comes out on top, IMHO.

I think the OP was referring to the old slogan that named San Antonio, New Orleans, Boston and San Francisco as the four unique cities in America. San Antonio and New Orleans would be the representatives of the South from this list per the OP.

San Antonio has history on its side (as does New Orleans) with Spanish missions dating back to 1718, the Alamo to 1724, the Spanish Governor's Palace to 1722 and the old town called La Villita that dates back to the early 1700's as well. These alone make San Antonio very unique predating the US. I wouldn't call that "a good rival for Fort Worth."

Isn't there a other thread just like this one? Anyway 940 seems to know about S.A, there is also the oldest U.S. Cathederal, San Fernando, and San Pedro Springs Park, the second oldest after the Boston Common. Then the 5 other Missions along the San Antonio River.

^ New Orleans has the nation's oldest city market (even older than Boston's) Yeah, the south has some cities that hold some historical titles.

New Orleans north shore subs are better than San Antonio. I don't know if SA could take a licking and keep on tickin like NOLA. Both cities are so similar, one is heavily French,African and Sicilian and the other is Hispanic

San Antonio is the birthplace of the U.S. Air Force. San Antonio having one of the strongest economies in the country makes it pretty tough. With all due respect to New Orleans, San Antonio's infrastructure is superior.

Why to people think S.A. is just hispanic? San Antonio has German settled suburbs, New braunfels, castroville, Seguin, Boerne and outlying regional cities Kerrville and not to distant, Fredricksburg.
All ethnic groups are represented in San Antonio. Have you heard of San Antonio's Folk Life Festival? The largest cultural festival in Texas.
