Western Massachusetts versus Eastern Massachusetts or [to put cities with it] Springfield versus Boston.
Respectively:
>'no accent'; typical 'drop the R' accent of eastern
>farms/mill towns; seaports and fishing villages
>rural-surburban; urbane
>less Puritanical [the person who founded Springfield in 1630 was kicked out of Boston]; staunch theocracy-historically speaking
>Shay's Rebellion [against eastern oppression]; subjugation of the rest of the state [continues to this day]
>mountains and rivers; ocean and bays and coastal plains
Metro Atlanta vs the rest of Georgia. And it seems to be getting worse over time.
This seems to be a variant of the urban vs. rural divide that many states have. The problem is amplified due to the divergance in demographics, culture, religion, politics and most other issues that is occuring there.
Its funny you say that because my best friend in SA is asian and she is scared to move to Houston because she thinks she will not fit in. She has heard so many horror stories from people from SA who tell her all that is there is murderous black people. She is gonna come visit next week so I am gonna make sure she decides to stay.
However, having lived there I would say that SA is overrated instead of underrated. easily the worst big city in America
A lot of the Asians in SA become "Latino washed" & assimilate into the community. Most of them are Filipino. Some Viet & Chinese.
I know a Korean chick in El Paso who hasn't dated an Asian guy since she's been here. There's just not that big of a population of Asians in those heavily Hispanic Texas cities.
Because DC people think their **** don't stink and believe they are superior.
Not really. People in DC do not think about Baltimore.
