I couldn't stand it sunny all the time. Some cloud cover is nice every once in awhile.

I'm surprised Redding is so high on that list given how much rainfall they get in winter, figured it would be below or on par with Sacramento. Also with Key West, I figured such a humid, tropical climate would have more clouds considering all the rain they get.
Yeah, SoFla has plenty of clouds, but at the same time, the sun is pretty intense, alot of times, there are "Sunshowers" in SoFla(Heavy raining while the sun is still clearly out and shining). It's like hot rain.

I wonder if one can tell the difference between Yuma at 90% and say El Paso at 84%

True, I now live in Vegas area and have lived in El Paso and the upper Midwest and never thought I would actually like cloudy days! They are a relief once in a while

moving from Phoenix to HB CA, I am missing the SUN something terrible. There is something about it that makes one feel good--granted it is so stinkin hot in the summer, but ah, the sunshine.

You may have lucked up in not being so hot. I remember a place where there was only Spanish on one radio station. Wasn't that wild. I guess that is why we have CD's in the car.

Oh, and how about those rest stops with no water. That was almost scary. That was when I started wearing dresses when I travel. Rest stops with no roof are a little too much for me.

My preference:

Sunny/Partly Sunny: 65% of the time
Cloudy/Partly Cloudy: 20% of the time
Rain/Snow/Storm: 15% of the time

This way you get your vitamin D like you need to and aren't depressed by gloominess, but occassionally have cloudy days as well to cool you down and recover from the heat.....sometimes they produce much needed precipitation to keep the land fertile and a good water supply.

The thing about Flagstaff though is the weather is not hot during the summer and during the winter there are frequent snow storms.
