Which of these cities: New Orleans or Las Vegas have a larger name recognition in America?
Both are quite popular, in history we learn of the Port of New Orleans and its impact on Historic America. And of course its role and cause in Louisiana Purchase.
Well about this "What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas" I think everyone here has heard that before.
So who has more name recognition?

No lol, I just forgot to think about the fact that many people in our country haven't ever taken US History as a course before. So I figured everyone here especially would know the history behind New Orleans.
But yeah Katrina really got its name out too... I don't know though, I went with Las Vegas because of popular media. But I think people can make strong cases on this.
Umm, before Katrina there was Mardi Gras and Bourbon St. I don't know which has more name recognition, but they're close. Las Vegas has long been a major entertainment destination and is known for it's casinos, boxing matches, CSI, etc. It's been featured in several television shows and movies, just as New Orleans. Within the last decade, New Orleans has been high up in the media whether it was Katrina, BP, or the Superbowl. New Orleans has been featured in several movies and t.v. shows as well in the last 5 years. The Real World, The Colony, Steven Seagal: Lawman, The Last Exorcism, The Expendables, Red, TrueBlood, etc. to name a few.
At this point people recognize both cities whether they picture "what happens in vegas stays in vegas" or images of people on roof tops. I doubt that you can name either city and more than a few people won't recognize one.
